Session Description:

Recognized as an essential skill for today’s public sector leaders, facilitation is increasingly being used to navigate the many and varied discussions required for the development and implementation of sound performance measurement and evaluation. This session will identify core skills and practices, as well as facilitation processes and techniques tailored for use in measurement or evaluation but applicable to all aspects of public sector dialogue.

Why is this Session important?

• This Session will teach you how to plan and conduct a facilitated meeting using a core set of skills and practices, techniques and tools which can be adapted for performance measurement or evaluation.

Who should come?

• This Session is designed for Federal Government program officers, policy analysts, results and delivery unit staff, executives, managers and those working in audit, performance planning, measurement and program evaluation.

After the Session you will be able to:

• Plan small and large-scale facilitations common to performance measurement and evaluation, such as developing a logic model & underlying theory of change, agreeing on performance indicators or evaluation questions.
• Deal effectively with problematic situations, e.g. power imbalances, resistance, apathy.
• Understand ways to improve your facilitation skills through practice and reflection.
• Identify opportunities to use facilitative approaches to increase learning from performance measurement and evaluation.
