Introducing Gender-based Analysis as a New Dimension in the Policy on Results: Where Do We Start?

Duration: 1 day    8:30 am to 4:00 pm   Date:  November 2, 2017

Session Instructor (s):   Jane Whynot

The Session will be delivered in English

Session Description:

This Session will examine the requirements for gender-based analysis (GBA+) reiterated in the 2016 Policy on Results and the accompanying Directive on Results, identify potential intersections in which GBA+ can  be introduced in evaluation efforts, review processes to support its integration in evaluation and suggest ways its use can be supported at various interventions in the policy cycle.

Why is this Session important?

  • The 2016 TBS Policy on Results highlighted GBA+ as a federal government priority.
  • Federal departments are struggling to understand GBA+ and meet related requirements.
  • Contributes to CES competencies for Credentialed Evaluator designation.

Who should come?

  • Federal Government policy, planning and measurement specialists seeking ways to understand and implement GBA+ into their TBS submissions, evaluations and reporting.
  • Federal Government evaluation analysts and evaluation consultants who need to apply GBA+ in their work.

After the Session you will be able to:

  • Understand the use of GBA+ in an evaluative context and be able to distinguish the similarities and differences between GBA+ and evaluation.
  • Identify what stakeholders need to be engaged.
  • Address some of the common resistances to GBA+ and identify mitigation strategies in response to challenges.
