Session Description:

This Session will explore three different evaluation approaches that Federal Government evaluators can use to design and conduct an evaluation. Participants will learn all about Contribution Analysis, Developmental Evaluation and Realist Evaluation, how each approach can be practically applied to address study needs, and how elements of each may be used together for cost-effective evaluations.

• Focuses on approaches that are not taught in traditional evaluation professional development courses.
• Contributes to CES competencies for Credentialed Evaluator designation.

• Identify the differences between evaluation theories, models and approaches and how certain approaches suit specific types of issues.
• Identify and describe 3 new evaluation approaches.
• Select and implement the most appropriate evaluation approach given a particular evaluation context and requirement.
